I thought it would also help my transition to HD, since the rather limited HD-FX1 is the only HD-capable camcorder I own at this time. These are all good 3x1/3” CCD workhorses but their small chips don’t produce the short depth of field that would allow me to create the bokeh effects I’d like in some short form work.īased on its specifications and many reviews I read, this is where I thought the Canon 7d would work beautifully. My primary camcorders are two Sony DSR-250s, a PD-150, and a HDR-FX1. I got into this line of work on a part time basis 13 years ago after almost 30 years as a 35mm SLR photography enthusiast.

I primarily cover events (excluding weddings), and fill in the blanks with video transfer services, depositions, plus some educational and promotional productions.

For the past 9 years, I have been making my full-time living as a videographer. I really hate to return my Canon 7d but I’m going to need some help to make it into the tool I had hoped it would be, and an investment worth making.
